Isbourne Arts presents National Theatre Live
Screenings come to the Izzy and we start with National Theatre Live.
This brand new release stars five-time Olivier Award winner Imelda Staunton (The Crown). She's on stage with her real-life daughter, Bessie Carter (Bridgerton), for the very first time as they star in George Bernard Shaw’s incendiary classic.
Vivie Warren is a woman ahead of her time. Her mother, however, is a product of an old patriarchal order. Exploiting it
has earned Mrs. Warren a fortune – but at what cost?
Filmed live, this new production reunites Imelda Staunton with director Dominic Cooke (Follies, Good), exploring the clash between morality and independence, traditions and progress.
This is our first screening at Isbourne Arts so join us as we premiere a brand new way of enjoying theatre in the Izzy.
Introductory ticket prices: £15.50 standard, £11.60 under-26
Screening starts at 7.30pm. Doors and bar open at 6.45pm.

A Sons of Town Hall show is more than a concert, it's an immersive experience unlike any other. American songwriter/author David Berkeley and British songwriter/ producer Ben Parker are the men beneath the hats in this transatlantic folk duo. They are also stars of the hilarious radio-theatre podcast series Madmen Cross the Water.
Sons of Town Hall are creating an entirely new performance genre: part live concept album, part performance art; the pair conjure their timeless mythic universe under the aliases Joshua Chester Jones and George Ulysses Brown, 19th century vagabonds who travel the world in a hand-built boat to escape troubled pasts and search for adventure and love.
The Sons weave wild stories between their heartbreaking and rousing songs, taking audiences on a deeply imaginative trip every show. For fans of Simon and Garfunkel, Tom Waites and Monty Pytoin alike, concertgoers are uplifted and inspired, transfixed and transformed, in awe of Sons of Town Hall's harmonies, and drunk on adventure and the tragic beauty of the human condition.

Angels are everywhere at Christmas: we sing of them in carols, send cards showing them in glory and even put them on top of our trees. For centuries, artists have put them at the centre of paintings and sculpted them into vivid reality to create some of the most beautiful and celebrated images in history. But why are angels so important in art?
This special event, hosted by local artist Barbara Curry, looks at the role that angels have in our culture, especially at Christmas.
When and where did artists first start painting and sculpting winged deities and messengers? Why did early Christian angels have no wings? And why were they all men to begin with?
Join us at the Izzy on November 30 for this fascinating talk. Donations on the door (£5 suggested) with tea, coffee and mince pies to follow.
Angels in Art starts at 3pm. Doors open at 2.30pm.

Emily Andrews (flutes) and David Massey (guitars) reach down into their tangled musical roots to create their own unique and imaginative instrumental arrangements of traditional Christmas carols and folk songs from all over the British Isles.
Well-loved carols and seasonal songs are recast with influences from country, world music and folk, including the Coventry Carol on haunting solo flute and Silent Night with shimmering high guitar harmonics above the alto flute's gentle lullaby.
Carols will be interspersed with British folk music from the Duo's acclaimed album 'from the roots....new branches', including well loved favourites like Molly Malone, Dance to your Daddy and Bold Grenadier.
Emily and David are two of the CarmenCo Trio who performed their wonderful A Pocket Opera at the Izzy back in April.
